The complex consisting of the new Student House, the traditional Hotel Seurahuone and Hansa House is now the new five-star hotel NH Collecion Grand Hansa, opened in May 2024. The restaurant and hotel have operated in the same premises for over a hundred years, as the New Student House was opened already in 1910, where Hotel Hansa operated from 1924 to 1968. The place was well known among the intelligentsia of the time.
In addition to the magnificent zeniitti hall, Lumir has acoustically treated numerous other spaces, such as the spa department, restaurant and reception hall, as well as the dome that has been restored as a bar (photos of this soon).
The premises are protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency, and the colour tones of Lumir’s acoustic suspended ceilings were adapted to the original petrol and blue tones. Light chalk was chosen for the Zeniitti Hall, which suits the tones of the walls and floor very well.
