Lumir and Kiiruna Talot started a new kind of cooperation when they delivered a partially acoustic home to their joint customer in Espoo at the Tornio house factory. Lumir supplied Kiiruna Talot with Lumir Boards, i.e. acoustic perforated drywall, which were already installed in the suspended ceiling structures of the house at the house factory. Kiiruna Talot delivers its customers the modules of the house package with surface treated fixtures. In practice, the house itself is erected on the foundations of the plot often in a day, as in this joint pilot project of ours.
Since Lumir’s sound environment was wanted for the home, it was agreed with both the customer and the house factory that Lumir would acoustically coat the suspended ceilings recorded in Tornio after the house was erected in Espoo. The suspended ceilings were to have completely seamless acoustic surfaces. The kitchen fixtures were protected very carefully, the suspended ceiling surfaces were acoustically sprayed and the luminaires were fixed in place after the Lumir surfaces had dried. The Lumir Comfort acoustic coating was smoothed and the edges bounded by indirect lighting and LED strips were finished with great care.
The customer’s home is located in Espoo in the middle of a forest, and with Lumir’s carbon-negative acoustic coating, the Finnish forest was also incorporated into the surface materials of the ecological house.
